Just a little about me
I am in my fifties, and have three beautiful daughters eight precious grandchildren.
I love singing, old movies and spending time with my family. "The Note Book" is one of my favorite movies, Patsy Cline is one of my favorite singers and there are just too many songs I enjoy to mention.
Working to educate others and to end domestic violence is my passion.
I hold a CADAC II (Alcohol and Drug Counseling), certification from Indiana Law Enforcement Academy as a "Train the Trainer" in Victim and Officer Safety and Work Place Violence. Licensed "Prime" instructor and have attained Trainer / Director Level through the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence as described in their state standards for Batterers Intervention Programs.
Following are some of the organizations I am involved with:
Facilitator for Non-Violent Alternatives© (NVA) This is a batterers intervention program. We address behavior and why one has the belief system to make it ok within themselves to be abusive. How one "justifies their behavior blaming the other person for their actions as a reason to do what he or she did or said that was abusive.
The Indiana Coalitions Against Domestic Violence (ICADV)
I have been an individual member for over six years. ICADV provides training throughout Indiana and sponsors an annual training for advocates, law-enforce, and other service providers to victims of domestic violence. The Coalitions also sponsors many trainings through out the year, resource for victims and those working with them and serves to watch over laws and programs regarding victims and BIP programs.
Communities Against Violence Network (CAVNET) This is an online information organization. There are members world-wide with a wealth of knowledge and assistance and information to service providers, as well as the general public. Many articles exist in their database for viewing and research.
ICAADA Member as a CADAC II (Drug and Alcohol Counselor)
Prime for Life®
As a licensed instructor I provide education and awareness through this program about alcohol and drug use. I am currently working for Mosaic Recovery. This treatment center provides long-term care and education in recovery of alcohol and drug addition.
The Prime for Life® program brings together the connection between Biological factors and Quantity and Frequencies Choices which can lead to increased risk of developing Alcoholism or Drug Addiction. How to recognize what your risk factors are and determine if there are adjustments one needs to make in their life to avoid future problems.

As a thirty-plus year survivor working to educate others and to work toward the ending of domestic violence is very important to me.
This is my way of "Thanking God" I made it.
I was married four years to my abusive partner. In the beginning I had no idea what lay ahead. I was fifteen when we met and I thought he was wonderful.. I felt so special because he would pick me up and take me to school everyday and then pick me up to bring me home each afternoon. He wanted to spend every minute of the day with me. Big warning flags should have gone up then. This was only his way of knowing where I was all the time. When we married we moved away from my family and friends. I suffered cut lips and bruises from time to time and lost our second child when "falling" down a staircase during an argument. Always accepting, "Honey, I am so sorry, I will never do it again", until the morning he came home from working third shift, and threw me in the closet and kicked me until I could no longer move. He did this because I didn't answer a question to his satisfaction. There was no argument before hand, just the question.
It took me many years and many more relationship mistakes to get to where I am today. I have many family member and friends to thank for believing in me and helping me along this journey. Without their love and support I have no idea where I would be right now.
As you wonder through these pages, I hope you will find answers, help and encouragement. Please read carefully the warning signs of Domestic Violence. It doesn't start with a black eye, it builds up to it. If you or someone you know might be in danger or need assistance there are many helpful links on the LINKS page of this site. I urge everyone to do whatever he or she can to help end Domestic Violence. Teach our children to be tolerant and patient and to embrace the difference in all of us. This is the hope for future generations.
A quote form Non-Violent Alternatives:
"There is nothing another person can say or do,
to make me say or do something I know in my conscience knows is wrong."
