Shelby County Domestic Violence Task Force
In October of 1999 the idea for a task force was formulated by Mattie Herald, Terry Moore and Kent Apsley. Each believed there was more, as a community, we could do for victims of domestic violence and improve the quality of life in Shelby County.
Domestic Violence or family violence means one of the following acts has been committed by a family member or household member.
Attempting to cause, threatening to cause, or causing physical harm.
Placing a family member in fear of physical harm.
Causing a family member or household member to involuntarily engage in sexual activity by force, threat of force, or duress.
Every Nine Seconds A Woman Is Beaten In the United States.
On Average Four (4) Women Are Murdered Everyday By
A Current Or Former Partner.
